This book is much more than I expected. First, it is over 400 pages filled with pictures and with the actual words from each member. WOW!!! Second, Every true fan must have this book. You will be thrilled that you have it.

There is so much information provided in this enormous book! What I love is that each of the original Beach Boy’s has a huge amount of input giving their point of view on various topics. This is accompanied by an insurmountable number of pictures over the years of the Beach Boy’s themselves, copies of original handwritten lyrics and actual music compositions. The Table of Contents is meticulously well organized. This is a true music education treasure! The pages are printed on heavy, thick paper making it easy for the reader to manage. Student’s and teacher’s alike are bound to use this as a phenomenal research tool! In truth, I wish there were follow up volumes addressing additional topics. Many cherished memories are recalled while reading. The only way to improve upon this is to play the music while reading! This is truly a magnificent gem and future collector’s item.

Wonderful tome — coffee table size book. So many pics of the Beach Boys, so many personal notes and memories. If you love 60s music, you should have this book! Read it, then go surfing — or dancing.

While the pictures in the book are amazing it’s very clumsy to read because everything pretty much are in quotes of individual members and associates portrayed just as comments about certain things it does not read like a book at all it’s more like reading endless memes. And anyone who’s not remotely familiar with the band would think by this book that the Beach Boys ceased to exist in 1980. There was still lots of music and history to be made after that this book doesn’t even indicate it exists. Pretty pictures like I said at the outset but way too expensive for what it is and very disappointing.

If I hold my ear very close to the book, I can hear something. The surf maybe? A little, yeah, but it’s a harmony of angels singing of surf, sand, sunshine, sloops, happiness, good vibrations, and much more than that. This is going to be an endless summer of good reading about one of the top groups of all time. There was an interesting comment in the new Beach Boys documentary- fabulous by the way! Somebody said the Beach Boys’ music takes you someplace. And that is something that can’t be said about even the Beatles, their greatest rival. Yeah, rivals. But it’s so silly to put bands in competition with each other. How many years have music fans argued over the Stones vs. the Beatles! They can all co-exist together. And the Beach Boys are at the top of what they did- they really did take us somewhere, and you can go on that journey every time you put on a Beach Boys song. It really is a lifetime pass to that land of effortless harmonies wrapped in a lyric.
Unlike some other Amazon shoppers, my book arrived in pristine condition, not a dent or a mark anywhere. It was packed in a solid, tight box that didn’t allow for any movement. So maybe I got lucky on that.
You aren’t a real Beach Boys fan if you don’t have this book. Get it and become part of the family. But for now, I have to go, because the book is calling me again to journey through its pages. It really is true- I can hear music.

Voor de beach boys fan die niet mag ontbreken in je collectie. Jammer dat het maar tot 1980 gaat. De jaren 70 worden meegenomen maar had wat mij betreft uitgebreider mogen zijn. Mooi groot en stevig formaat.

Feel free to read the book and at the same time listen to The Beach Boys’ albums over the years. An incredibly rewarding journey from the 40s to modern times. Recommended the Best!
