It appears

that Mr. Williams misspoke, misremembered or lied about 2 or 3 incidents in the past. On the other hand,

Williams has demonstrated to have the organizational skills and charisma for a major anchor. This is not the same as Stephen Glass who wrote for the New Republic with lies after lies so that this periodical needed to make a wholesale

revamp of the magazine with retractions of a catalogue of tales that were not true.

We believe that Williams salary should be cut by 25%, that he should be put on probation, that he should remain at the desk, and not go on trips to gather news.

Further, he be utilized as the  major  person for appearances on the nightly news, MSNBC, and CNBC.

He may be put on various other platforms for NBC. Thus,

his major contribution is organizing the nightly news plus other appearances on NBC.

In other words, there should be no question about his personal gathering of stories.

If he should be fired, we can imagine him as a newscaster at one of the major stations in the country that is regional and local rather than National. His talent needs to be used in a way that he can present the news rather than produce the news.
