There is not a crisis. It is being manufactured. Modest benefit cuts and revenue increases would solve the shortfall. In the new system, there would be about a 25% maintenance charge by insurance companies and related. Social security now costs only 1% to maintain.
Last, social security is not a pension system, but a welfare system for elderly. Two thirds of Americans have only social security to rely on.
