Russia’s attack on Georgia is somewhat predictable. Russia

lost mightly in the cold war. Command Socialism or

communism failed. It then floundered with a very raw form

of capitalism that brought fort internally disruption and disorder.

Further, state industries were sold for a song to outside capitalists.

Many of Russia’s weapons began to rot. Putin restored order over

the sloppy form of democracy and gave the  people an orderly

form of fascism with a new nice name. The huge country of

the USSR ran across 11 time zones. Russia does not want to

grow that much, but would like to have the Russian empire

back and that means more land and countries than they have

now. Further, Russia is getting rich again and they have lots of

oil to sell.
