DECADES OF ANNIVERSARIES
DECADES OF ANNIVERSARIES
1968/JUNE 7 10 AM. Jennifer and I got married in a very short ritual in the Nebraska chapel at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral. The Horrums were there and the Snells along with Grandma Dode. Afterwards, the families went to Gorats and Jennifer and I went to a motel in Fremont. We spent 2 days there. We were married the day RFK was laid to rest. We spent a lot of time at the lakes and a restaurant that was nearby. My father gave $20.00 and modestly priced champagne.
1978/ JUNE 4
Up. It was a very beautiful morning and drove from the cottage to Cedar
Rapids. I unpacked stuff in Marion and at night watched “Eleanor and Franklin” I had a very meaningful experience at a Rest stop where I could look all over the country side.
1978/JUNE 5
Senator Robert Kennedy died 10 years ago. I miss him. I got all my equipment in the office and dropped off my handouts to the secretary. I had a good drive back to the cottage.
1978/JUNE 6 I took care of the boys and I cleaned up the cottage. It was an exhausting day.
1978/ JUNE 7TH
Jennifer and I got married. How lucky that I am. We have good visits with Sara and Gayle at their homes. We had dinner at the Sheraton Marina and we drove past Healen high. Good evening. WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO THE CLASS OF 1965?
REGISTRATION: MOTEL 6 JOEL C.SNELL/BLAIR, NE. / 29-E-75/2 IN PARTY/ $12.00 FOR 6/7
1978/ JUNE 8
We entertained Dick and Mary at the cottage. Nathan got in trouble for breaking some ducks made of plaster of a neighbor… I am so tired.
1993/ JUNE 7
Get me to the church on time, Jennifer and I had been at a motel in west Omaha. We got up and dressed. Called Mom and she was ready. We were already packed. Mom took our picture in front of the Nebraska Chapel on the side of Cathedral. It has been 25 years. After the picture taking, Mom went back home and we headed for Cedar Rapids. About 10 miles out of town, Jennifer could not find her camera and so we went back to Cathedral. There it was right where we left it. A nice old man was going into Mass and reminded us that it was time to go to church for daily mass. We thanked him.
Later, I wrote an editorial about it and was published in THE GAZETTE about our
25th anniversary.
2003/JUNE 7
We packed and drove to Minneapolis. The hotel was nice. I called Charlie Bercaw. It cost $6.90 cents to talk for 10 minutes. Minneapolis is a pretty place.
2003/ JUNE 8
We went to MALL OF AMERICA. It was a pleasant place and when Jennie was shopping, I was reading OUR KIND OF PEOPLE by Grahamn. We went to see a friend and later we went to a park across from Cedar Lake. There in the Isle area was Dean Park. I PROPOSED TO JENNIFER. We went back to the hotel and dinner. It was a very good night.
