Divorces can be mean and messy. There are custody battles, estate issues and related. Now come animal companions. Usually, they are dogs or cats, but they can be other animals.

So what is a dog to do? Wait it out. There is pet alimony to deal with and other pertinent issues and when humans bond with an animal, there is hell to pay in court.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the human parties involved will pay attorneys and court costs that could buy numerous animal companions. Sometimes, it is best to put the animal companion in pre-nuptials. One’s relationship with an animal can outlast many marriages.

At any rate, the animal companions seem to do well with either party. When it comes to good food, a nice place to hang out, and lots of attention, who is to complain?
