Nearly every year, EMI-Capitol and Decca Records come out with a “new” compilation of Beatle, Beach Boys and Rolling Stone albums. The CD’s may delete something from the original or add something or change something and it sells. Who is buying? Baby Boomers.
The market has turned upside down. It is generally the 18 to 34 cohort that has the discretionary money. In this instance, Gen X and Gen Y are still important, but Boomers are a great market.
Watch the advertisements. It includes everything from medications to how to look younger. That includes hair dye and hair transplants to Botox. Listen to the music that surrounds the message.
Boomers are the most controversial and historical of generations because returning serviceman after World War II settled down in a prosperous economy. They had 1 extra child and that caused an explosion. The greatest generation was followed by the Silent generation and then came the boomers.
For the most part, they married later smoked some marijuana and looked forward to the United States becoming more like Canada or Sweden. It didn’t work out and so they plow on.
And when they die, the Gen X types will be so incredibly happy!
