THOSE PEOPLE WHO LOOK WHITE / WORKING PAPER

Years ago, a  scientist named Structert (58’) indicated that 51% of Whites had Black heritage. That was so long ago, that his work must be questioned relative to today. So let us begin. The USA has roughly 340 million people. 61% or roughly 203 million are white.  21% of that population is Blacks who appear White. That is about 43 million folks are Black on the inside and White on the outside.

How did this happen? White slave owners had sex with young girls. So 12.3% of the entire population is defined as Black.  Since the 6o’s the talented 10% has become relatively half the Black population.

Robinson (2010) divides the Black population which is only 12% of the entire population into MAINSTREAM MIDDLE CLASS. They work in a desegregated place, but usually go home to a segregated neighborhood. The ABANDONED that make up about half of the Black population are usually involved in crime, poverty, drugs, and prostitution. Within this group is the collateral damage of folks who live imprisoned in their house and rarely go out. They obey the law and fear for their lives. Gangs run the neighborhood.

Then there are the TRANSCENDENT. Their “superstar” positions mean that they can go anywhere and are celebrated by the nearly the entire population. The last is the EMERGENT group which is composed of folks from Nigeria and other populations that are clearly middle or above and then the bi-racial who usually look white, but are black.

Back in the early 60’s, inter-racial couples bore some white looking children. They were according to Billingsley (68’) went to all white schools where they looked white and married a White. This is called “passing” Cosmetics helped.

Snell (2008) described how white appearing Blacks learned to dress and talk white. Graham in (2000) discussed how the Black elite learned to appear white and be able to converse with both Black and White groups.

All of information is backed by DNA studies. You have been White all your life and enjoyed white privileges. Are you going to divulge to white friends of your Black heritage? This is one of the dilemmas of the 21^st century. Who are you? Does the cover, tell you much about the book?
