Black women in the south were sterilized after having a baby. In this instance it was in North Carolina, where this occurred. A document for sterilization was signed by a neglectful father and co-signed by an illiterate grandmother. Nearly 70,000 women were treated this way until Hitler came to power during the late 30’s early 40’s. This impacted American policy. In the last century, over 30 states had this policy back in the 20^th century. All of this was finally halted in 1974.

It was not based on behavior, but the assessment by outsiders that a person was lazy.

For many, this took the spirit out of them in terms of being a woman.

Today’s social eugenics is based on behavior. If a male is in prison for life and does not have conjugal visits, they essentially are sterilized.
