SHAMOO 2.0
SHAMPOO (1975)
All the beautiful people live in the hills of Hollywood. They are first class phonies and they hate themselves for hating themselves. The American dream is greed and they have it.
A very handsome hair stylist listens to women all day. They know that men want them for their bodies and haven’t heard a word about what they want in years.
The star is addicted to addictions. His brain is going 10 ways, but most of the time his thoughts go straight to his penis. He can’t get enough and he got into his profession to get laid.
He also knows that the word for sex is a very angry one and women know that it is something of a predatory act that men do to women.
Most everything is commodified and the sincerity of the poet’s love of nature is going up in plastic. Wouldn’t it be nice to live together in a world that where we are alone?
Shampoo is Gatsby of the late 60’s and Gatsby is a reflection of the hustle of the fast buck 80’s.
