SUPER BUG
A NEW BUG TO KILL THE SUPERBUG
Gosline, Anna (2004) “Antibiotic-boosting drug kills super bug.” NEWSCIENTIST.COM, 10/15
A UK company has discovered that when 2 antibiotics are given at the same time, but independent of each other, the super bug dies.
It was a surprise, serendipitous finding, but it may another in the arsenal to delay the day when antibiotics can be beat. Ideally, there may come a day when a drug can “fool” the super staph to turn on itself and kill its existence. That day has not come.
However, this medication should be ready in a year. The last antibiotic to fight the super bug is vancomycin.
