I wasn’t convinced at first…

I’m in my late 30s and have gotten into wet shaving as a hobby. I love the nostalgia and ritual of it, and of course am researching (like a true nerd) all the old school shaving products. Never thought of Aqua Velva as anything other than a cheap aftershave, but have recently been intrigued by its history as America’s first aftershave and all the buzz about the scent. So, I walked into my local Target, opened the cap and gave it a whiff, then put it back on the shelf and left. My first impression was that it smells like a balding man working behind the counter at a bowling alley. But I kept sniffing it every time I shopped at Target, and actually started liking it. It has a talc, leather, menthol scent that initially I didn’t care for, but now it smells more complex to me. I don’t smell the purported bergamot and lavender, but I’m sure they’re folded into the talc. P.S. Target has the best price around on this!

Cheaper here for the larger bottle we received than everywhere else and it arrived undamaged! Our local markets only ever have the much smaller bottle at about $1.50 more in price than we paid here! Hubby’s been using this for decades and says it IS the best, it burns for a second or two, than quickly cools and soothes and he never ends up with any razor-burn or razor-bumps! He has tried many others and swears the other brands just don’t work! Well worth buying from Walfart!
