PHYSICAL APPEARANCE AND MEDICAL SOCIOLOGY
MEDICAL SOCIOLOGY AND PHYSICAL APPEARANCE/ WORKING PAPER
INTRODUCTION
Physical appearance and social interaction can not be be overlooked. In this article , the authors will define the relationship between the two areas. Looking healthy and being healthy may be assumed, but can be manipulated. We will discuss the areas of physical health appearance and indicate how they differ or appear similar in social interaction.
DEFINITION/
Medical sociology is defined as all the independent and intervening MEDICAL variables that connect with the social world. Physical appearance may not always apply as the view of the person may be temporary. (A. I.)
DISCUSSION/
Jennifer Grey is perhaps the most noted in this area. She had starred in a number of popular movies and related. She was quite sure that her prominent nose was slowing her career trajectory and had nose surgery. She notes that before her operation she was famous and after the nose bob , she lost her nose, and she gained anonymity. Numerous sources no longer wanted her or could recognize her.. Now she could walk in a crowd and no one noticed her. You don’t know her now, but may easily find stories about in computer searches. 2/
Does one want to be handsome or beautiful? Perhaps. The outcome depends on time, place, and culture.
Looking “good” may have various outcomes. How do you look on the electronic media may be what the person wants, but finds that others are not so sure. Elsea 1/ notes in a review of appearance of political candates, that John F. Kennedy “won” or “tied” Richard Nixon, a top debater. Other debates came later, but did not gain much of the attention of the public. In other words, Kennedy could hold his own in a tight match. Be reviewing, by all the candidates, he has coined the term “politicoscometology..”
So where did medical sociology go? In the election, that even young readers can understand, the HANDSOME Kennedy could be a lot more than his physical appearance.
There are numerous outliers and iterations in this article that stay within boundaries of health and is very applicable the latest president. Again, there are numerous pictures of President Trump’s hair color and style as well as his brown to orange complexion. Close ups would indicate that at 80 he may be suffering from health related issues.2/
However, there is a Rubicon in terms of culture. Would you rather have a very handsome surgeon (a male in this instance,) or an excellent surgeon who is “ordinary” in appearance.? Culture.
OTHER VARIABLES/
An A.I. search of “Physical Appearance and Medical Sociology” that appearance is not just a physical phenomena but is socially constructed, culturally based, and politically influenced phenomena that interacts with health, illness, and social inequality.”
Physical appearance may be gendered, appearance based inequalities, including race, gender, and class.
There is also common parlance of nose bobs, tucks, and releated.
SUMMARY/ Physical appearance is part of our social world. It can be a source of insecurity, security, and numerous other variables.
CONCLUSION
Medical sociology is vast and interaconects with nearly all the other social methods or social sciences.
